OVERVIEW

The BHA Supervisor – Day is a staff member who is primarily responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the residents at the ARCH facility. The other focus of this position is the involvement they have in the treatment process by helping them to implement change and achieve desired goals. This job entails working closely and communicating with Substance Use Disorder Case Managers, Mental Health Clinicians, and other Behavioral Health Associates to ensure that ARCH is an environment conducive to treatment.

Essential Functions, Duties, & Responsibilities

Supervision and Training

  • Works with the RSM to recruit, interview, hire and train Day Behavioral Health Associates (Day BHAs), including organizing and implementing the onboarding for each new BHA on this shift.
  • Provide initial and on-going training to BHAs in areas such as, safety procedures, crisis and behavioral interventions, program policies and procedures, and program rules.
  • Provide on-going supervision to BHAs through verbal feedback.
  • Assists with written performance evaluations as well as conducting corrective actions when needed.
  • Model appropriate interventions and limit-setting to help ensure the general safety and welfare of clients at ARCH.
  • Assists in scheduling and facilitating BHA supervisions.
  • Model and teaches appropriate boundaries and professionalism.
  • Adhere to and enforces CARF standards, Division of Public Health and Division of Behavioral Health regulations and agency policy and procedures.

Behavior Management

  • Provides behavioral interventions to residents using tools such as setting clear boundaries and limits, enforcing program rules, the point system, and implementing group interventions with guidance from supervisors.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Support healthy behavior changes in clients including guiding them through identifying problems and working toward solutions.

Program Implementation

  • Oversee client self-administering medication and documenting the medication process.
  • Facility management during assigned shifts.
  • Oversee inventory of ‘can’t haves’ on a nightly basis.
  • Enforcement of sight policy of clients, by remaining on shift until relieved and mandatory staff to client ration (1:6) is established.
  • Responsible for implementing emergency procedures when needed and conducting emergency drills as assigned along with documenting the outcome of each drill.
  • Support enforcement of the client schedule on a daily basis.
  • Communicate classroom involvement of clients to the floor counselor or other relevant clinical team members.
  • May oversee preparation or prepare meals for clients, supervise client chores, provide transportation in company vehicle when necessary.
  • Maybe responsible for checking clients in and out of the facility including conducting personal searches and facilitating urinalysis testing.
  • Oversee inventory and implementation of commissary cart.
  • Ensure all chores and responsibilities for shift are completed, including any necessary documentation.

Clinical/Documentation

  • Work with Floor Counselor as needed in in arranging, designing and fostering situations that can result in learning opportunities for residents requiring problem solving, coping with natural consequences, communicating assertively while simultaneously reinforcing the desired behaviors residents are working towards that support a lifestyle of right living.
  • Empower peers and clients to work together, make decisions and problem solve to reflect real world problems they will encounter in the future.
  • Work with the BHA Supervisor acts as a liaison between clinical operations and milieu.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with ARCH residents.
  • Completes all required documentation in accordance to agency policy and procedure, Medicaid regulations, Division of Behavioral Health requirements, and Division of Public Health regulations.

Other Duties
The BHA Day Supervisor adheres to the NAADAC code of ethics as well as the code of conduct for this agency. Adherence to the federal regulations mandated by HIPAA and 42 CFR part 2, and confidentiality requirements is required as outlined in agency policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma/ G.E.D.
  • Two years of relevant experience preferred
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on information available
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekend hours and holidays
  • Ability to safely transport clients in agency’s vehicle if required
  • Ability to participate in recreational activities, such as hikes, and/or indoor/outdoor events with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Works in office areas. Interacts with staff, consultants, and outside vendors. May be subjected to interruptions throughout the workday.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. The vision requirement includes close vision; consistent sighting of clients.
  • This position is a Day shift and requires the employee to remain awake and alert during the duration of the shift
