Job Description
The Complex Care & Recovery Program is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (until October 31, 2025) Behaviour Analyst for the Forensic General Unit B (FGUB) to work with clients residing on a 31-bed all male unit under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board. A large part of this role is focused on facilitating programming options in both groups and 1:1 work. Reporting to the Manager and working as a member of an interprofessional team, the Behaviour Analyst will work within a recovery based model of care to provide time limited, in-patient behaviour therapy services to these individuals.
Using a bio-psychosocial approach and encompassing the Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) functions of data collection and analysis, behavioural analysis and behavioural intervention, the Behaviour Analyst will collaborate with the various disciplines within the program in the development of integrated formulations, diagnoses and recommendations in accordance with best practice (evidence based) approaches to working with challenging client’s living with mental illness. The Behaviour Analyst will provide behavioural treatment, consultation, ongoing implementation and evaluation and support to CCR staff in the development of treatment plans that are tailored to the individuals’ needs. You will liaise with other services in CAMH, community agencies and other clinicians to coordinate care for clients. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations, contribute to program development, facilitate treatment groups, support families, provide education, support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program. Familiarity with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an asset.
As a Behaviour Analyst, you will be responsible for providing direct clinical care to both inpatient and outpatient clients, including conducting functional behaviour assessments, designing behavioural interventions, and evaluating treatment outcomes. You will work within a bio-psychosocial framework, utilizing evidence-based, data-informed practices to address challenging behaviours and develop skill-building programs. You will also supervise unregistered or provisionally licensed staff, ensuring high-quality care is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Behavioural Assessments: Conduct functional behavioural assessments, preference assessments, and skill evaluations tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Designing and Implementing Behavioural Programs: Develop and implement function-based interventions and skill-building programs.
  • Interprofessional Team Collaboration: Work closely with other professionals to create integrated treatment plans, and provide training and updates.
  • Treatment Evaluation: Monitor treatment effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.
  • Supervision: Supervise behaviour analyst under supervised practice and unregulated ABA providers
  • Program Development: Contribute to program design, evaluation, and capacity-building activities.

Job Requirements

  • Post-graduate degree in Behaviour Analysis or related field.
  • Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPBAO) in good standing.
  • For Registered Behaviour Analyst applicants not yet in independent practice, who are required to practice with clinical supervision, CAMH, in its discretion, will pre-arrange this formal supervisory relationship with the clinical program as a condition of hire, based on capacity
  • 2 years’ experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), preferably with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or dual diagnoses is preferred CAMH reserves the right to assess if supervision capacity allows for candidates who are registered with the college under supervised practice
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working within forensic systems is an asset
  • Work primarily in inpatient and community settings, with a moderate to high level of mental and sensory concentration
  • May involve lifting light objects and occasional de-escalation of clients in distress
