DESCRIPTION:

Highly qualified Behaviour Specialist with knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals, groups and systems through the application of positive behaviour supports. The Behaviour Specialist will assess and design appropriate Individual Education Plans for each child throughout the preschool. They will implement Positive Behaviour & Intervention Plans where necessary and in conjunction with the preschool teacher and Director of Services.

Responsibilities:

The Behaviour Specialist will:
· Conduct initial assessment of child upon entry of the service (within first two weeks). This assessment will be a combination of VBMAPP, ESDM and any other assessments that are deemed necessary.
· Create an IEP for each child within the first month of entry into the service. This will then be discussed with the Preschool Manager, Parents and the child’s assigned tutor.
· Effectively support student acquisition of core targets and objectives as identified in initial assessment upon entry of the service.
· Assist staff in defining and measuring behavior, understanding principles of reinforcement, teaching new behaviours, implementing strategies for weakening behavior and identifying antecedents.
· Facilitate weekly management meetings with the Preschool Manager and Director of Services to discuss each child’s progression or address any regression. To discuss any changes needed to address classroom organisation, effective instruction, social skills instruction and ethical issues.
· Work with individual teachers, groups of teachers and/or entire staff on issues such as crisis intervention, learning and collaboration issues, and factors that can affect development, implementation and/or maintenance of interventions
· Use ongoing assessments to maintain a record of a student’s progress.
· Develop a repertoire of assessment strategies consistent with instructional goals, teaching methods, and individual student needs to more accurately assess student behavior skills and understanding.
· Regard assessment as a joint venture through which both student and teacher understanding is enhanced.
· Work cooperatively with staff to promote positive behaviour by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modelling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behaviour support in their classrooms.
· Covering within the classrooms will be expected of you from time to time.
· Engage in ongoing professional development to increase knowledge and skills of positive student behaviour support for all students.
· Meet and discuss each child’s IEP with Parents a minimum of three times throughout the school year. Update monthly reports so they are ready to be dispatched once a month to parents.
· Organise and schedule time commitments to meet the demands of the job
· Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures; report all unsafe activities to the Preschool Manager and/or the Director.
· Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skills.

Pay: €34,000.00-€36,000.00 per year
