Description:
Are you passionate about supporting young adults with autism and learning disabilities? Do you want to work in an organisation rated ’Outstanding’ by the CQC?
We are currently recruiting for full time or part time staff to work on established home and community-based programmes across North London, including Camden, Haringey, and Enfield. You will work as part of a team supporting service users with primary diagnoses of autism and learning disabilities across North London with a focus on life skills and community participation. We accept experienced graduates, professionals from other disciplines interested in supporting teenagers and young adults in their home and local community, and candidates who have previously worked in ABA or PBS settings. Beam ABA Services adopts a “positive risk taking” approach in ensuring the young people we support are provided with opportunities that increase their independence and improve their quality of life.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 1 year of applied experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
- Experience of supporting individuals who are non-verbal, with experience of promoting alternative modes of communication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate Degree in Psychology or related field.
- 2+ years of applied experience working with with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
- Experience of supporting individuals who may display behaviours of concern.
- Experience utilising ABA/PBS methodology
- Clean drivers license.
Responsibilities:
- To assist in the implementation of person centred programmes utilising Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support best practice
- To support service users by teaching functional skills, developing communication systems, enhancing social skills under a framework that provides choice and promotes empowerment.
- To monitor and take accurate data daily as per service users’ targets
- To support individuals during times of crisis - e.g., behaviours of concern.
- To assist service user with self-help skills including personal care and hygiene needs (e.g., toileting, nappy changing, feeding, bathing, nail cutting, and medication)
- To model best practice and professionalism at all times
- To ensure all programme materials are organised and accessible
- To attend mandatory trainings, team meetings and self-directed e-learning modules
- To promote safeguarding and wellbeing for service user to the highest standard
- To implement restrictive techniques per service users positive handling plan as required
- Flexibility to support service user during evenings and weekends
- Other duties as required by your manager
