Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit community group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Job Description
Trees Atlanta is looking for a qualified and motivated project manager to assist in the installation and care of landscape capital improvements within the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum. This individual will implement existing landscape plans to build out new portions of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum corridor, including the Southside, Northeast, Northwest, and Westside Trails. Project management includes supervision of one or more installation teams, various subcontractors, material sourcing, budget management, and quality assurance.
Don’t miss this opportunity to work in a key role implementing one of the largest urban renewal and infrastructure projects in the Southeast. Lay the groundwork for a shaded urban greenspace while restoring the urban forest, and plant high-value wildlife and pollinator habitat.

The Project Manager will work in conjunction with the BeltLine Arboretum Program Manager and the Director of Conservation to:

  • Implement ecologically sound urban design for the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum, working under contract with Atlanta BeltLine Inc. (ABI).
  • Support Trees Atlanta’s mission, and that of the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum, via planting, conservation, and education.
  • Hire, supervise, and assist in training in-house project installation and maintenance team (including team supervisor and team leads).
  • Oversee and advise subcontractors during project installation.
  • Represent Trees Atlanta at meetings with the primary client (ABI) and with the trail general contractor.
  • Develop installation schedule.
  • Source plant material as needed.
  • Track and record expenses against project budgets.
  • Provide onsite plant layout for planting subcontractors, per design documents.
  • Conduct frequent site assessments of ongoing work.
  • Direct in-house team supervisor during contract maintenance period (2 years from installation).
  • Supervise annual Arboretum Fellowship, tasked with accessioning new plantings.

Requirements

  • A minimum of four years of experience preferred in project implementation, landscape management, or related experience.
  • A valid driver’s license with three years of a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative nonprofit work environment
  • This role requires the employee to be primarily in the office or on the jobsite full-time.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous tasks.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn about native plants.
