MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Human Resources or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience administering HRIS/ERP systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Grade 7 Salaried)

I. JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Associate Director Total Rewards, the Sr. Benefits Analyst provides day-to-day administration support for the benefits and retirement functional areas. Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the various benefit programs including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life, LTD, COBRA, flexible spending accounts, ACA, and 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans. Position is located on the Belknap Campus with a hybrid/remote work arrangement with 3 days a week in office.

III. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience managing benefits in a higher education setting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Resolve any plan, transactional or distribution issues. Communicate with customers, vendors, on behalf of HR as needed. Conducts regular audits for open enrollment.
  2. Provide customer service, administrative, tactical, and system transaction support for a wide range of employee benefit tasks and processes. Partner with the HRIS Analyst to ensure all required processes, system feeds, business transactions, and reporting are properly executed in a timely manner including vendors and payroll feeds.
  3. Reconcile employee benefit and retirement deductions, including arrears and adjustments, and vendor payment transactions, including wires and monthly invoices. Responsible for the monthly health plan financial report documenting the cash flow of all revenue, fees and expenditures associated with UofL’s self-insured health plan.
  4. Collaborate with Benefits team members, HRIS Analyst and others on benefits operations, reporting, regular data reconciliations, audits, and system configuration reviews. Assist with the communication and execution of new employee orientation and annual benefits open enrollment.
  5. Provide next-level support to the benefit service team for complex employee claims, coverage, enrollment, and eligibility questions. Assist team members with root cause analyses associated with issues or problems and help identify process or system improvements.
  6. Provide analytical, process, and project support to the Benefits team and others within Total Rewards. Develop and maintain documentation of critical benefits processes and procedures.
  7. Ensure compliance with federal laws including the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Internal Revenue Code tax-sheltered annuity contribution limits and plan pre-tax benefits.
