Ellement Consulting Group is currently seeking to fill the position of a full-time Consultant in the Benefits Consulting Practice, based in Vancouver. This position will focus on effective development and delivery of various benefits consulting projects.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Consultant, you will collaborate closely with senior practitioners to address the unique needs of each client, guiding them through complex benefit design, valuation processes, and compliance challenges. You will play a crucial role in building and maintaining client relationships, mentoring team members, and contributing to the firm’s internal initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
Fully qualified actuary, possessing FCIA (Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) and FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designations. Candidates with ACIA (Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) and ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) designations may also be considered.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 6 to 8 years of benefits consulting experience, with hands-on roles at both the analyst and consultant levels.
- Strong experience working with large benefit programs, either single-employer or multi-employer in nature.
- A well-rounded background in both technical (core insurance and actuarial valuation) and consulting capacities

- Capable of overseeing clients with minimal oversight or direction, demonstrating strong independent leadership.

- Proven track record of collaborative work with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of benefits industry trends and regulatory policies.
In support of a flexible work environment, you are expected to attend the office for a minimum of one to three days per week.
Responsibilities:
TECHNICAL AND ANALYTICAL DUTIES
- Complete complex technical analyses, calculations, and governance exercises pertinent to client needs.
- Serve as a signing actuary on various valuations and other required disclosures.
- Peer review technical analyses and calculations to ensure accuracy and client-readiness.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation and organization of all work products.
