QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in benefits administration or human resources.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency of MS Excel (Lookup References, Logical Formulas, Tables, Macros) and HRIS systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now.
  • Strong service orientation with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the Firm in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle escalations and time-critical issues.
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and redefine priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills complemented with professional written and verbal communication
  • Bilingualism in French & English (oral & written) would be an asset.
  • CEBS designation an asset.

    The starting range for this role is $46,800 to $65,000. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer timely and accurate current Group Benefits enrollments, changes and terminations.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all benefit programs.
  • Act as the primary point-of-contact and responds to inquiries related to benefit plan coverage and details from all members of the Firm.
  • Generate monthly reports and verify firm member benefit coverage to reconcile monthly remittances and prepare payment requests.
  • Maintain HRIS and benefit carrier systems with up-to-date employee records, performing audits to ensure data accuracy between systems.
  • Maintain all internal benefits-related documentation, including benefit booklets, policies and guides are kept current and up to date online and for distribution as requested.
  • Facilitates and liaises with insurance carriers, external consultants, and various internal stakeholders regarding claims management and billings, and make recommendation to improve processes.
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on data feed implementation with carrier, responsible for testing and auditing files and internal processes.
  • Supports all annual benefit cycles and processes, including but not limited to total rewards statements, partner benefit statements, and overage dependent process.
  • Keep abreast of market, industry and legislative changes and requirements impacting benefit programs, policies and related administration.
  • Supports the Manager, Compensation and Benefits in preparing ad hoc reports and special projects.
  • Provides back-up support as needed for Benefits & Disability Specialist.
