Job Summary:

The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for administering and overseeing employee and student benefits programs. Supervises benefits representatives. Works closely with human resources professionals, finance team, and senior management to ensure that the OSU/A&M benefits programs are effectively administered, communicated, and aligned with the organization’s overall objectives and budget.
The primary responsibilities of the Benefits Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:
Benefits administration for OSU/A&M employee and student benefit plans: Manage and coordinate various benefit programs such as health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and other supplemental benefits. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits. Serves as a point of escalation for benefit-related issues.
Oversees communications and resources for employees: Develop and implement employee communication strategies to promote awareness and understanding of benefit programs. Coordinate new employees and annual enrollment benefit orientation sessions. Conduct benefit orientation sessions as needed. Organize benefit education programs, seminars, and workshops and coordinate annual enrollment benefits fair. Oversight of benefits administration portal and benefits website. Prepare and distribute benefits-related materials, such as benefits guides, handbooks, brochures, and newsletters.
Assists with Vendor Management: Coordinate with insurance providers, third-party administrators, and other benefits vendors. Work with the Director of Benefits to manage vendor contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality of services. Work directly with vendors to process employee enrollment changes and terminations in benefits plans. Audits plans/reviews discrepancy reports to maintain accurate and up-to-date benefit records and employee data.
Evaluate Benefit Programs: Prepare reports and analyze data related to benefit plans, contributions, and participation rates. Analyze and recommend new benefit programs or changes to existing ones. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.
Benefits Representative Supervision: Assist with the recruitment, screening, and evaluation of new benefits team members. Supervise and manage a team of benefits employees. Provide training, guidance, and oversight to team members. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and conduct performance evaluations.

Position Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or closely related field
At least two years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or similar role.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as strong attention to detail
Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and work autonomously
Strong interpersonal relations skills
Strong customer service and public relations skills Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Presentation skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years experience with direct supervision
Demonstrated ability and knowledge of OSU benefit and retirement systems
