JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of company benefits and programs, including addressing employee inquiries, preparing for annual open enrollment, coordinating with benefit vendors.

  • Owns the day-to-day benefit administration, employee inquiries, and plan document maintenance for the following employee benefits: retirement plan (US 401(k) and Canada RRSP), health & welfare, life and disability.
  • Leads yearly Open Enrollment activities including coordinating interface with portals to ensure benefit plans are updated and employee benefit elections are transmitted to benefit providers accurately and within enrollment deadlines.
  • Supports Associate Dir, C&B with annual benefit renewal process, including coordinating with benefits broker and vendors, and analysis of benefits reports.
  • Under Associate Dir C&B guidance, facilitate 401(k) Investment Committee semi-annual meetings
  • Prepares and submit requirements timely for 5500 filing, HCE testing, 095/ACA filings, and routine plan audits in partnership with the vendors and government agencies.
  • Partners with the HRIS, payroll and accounts payables teams to ensure timely and accurate remittance of employee contributions and benefit plan invoices.
  • Provides communication content for benefits communications per campaign designed with Associate Dir C&B.
  • Supports HR with benefits related activities for new hires, terminations, and onsite health screenings
  • Participates in benefits surveys to ensure market-competitiveness and internal user testing activities for benefits/HR systems for data integrity and system upgrades.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent is required. Bachelor Degree desired.
  • Benefits Certification strongly desired and prior experience in HRIS/Payroll systems.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience as an internal benefits administrator and vendor interface required.
  • Knowledge of US agency laws and regulations relating to benefits (HIPAA, ACA, Section 125) required.
  • MS Excel proficiency for data audits and reporting required.
  • Benefit vendor management and onsite screening event planning preferred.

  • Verbal and written communication skills to explain benefits and troubleshoot issues

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence various vendors on Benefits operational matters.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive data with discretion
  • Working Knowledge of:
  • US Benefit Plans and System file feeds
  • Ability to establish and communicate priorities without direct oversight
  • Proficiency in delivering presentations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various teams, functions and external partners/vendors
  • General understanding of Canada Benefit Plans
    Shift: Days, Mon – Fri.
