We have a very collaborative team culture and a highly professional and rewarding work environment. Operational since 1999, Bengalla is situated approx. 4km southwest of Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley and supplies international thermal coal markets with approximately 10.5Mtpa.
Bengalla is an open cut coal mine offering a residential lifestyle. The development consent for the operation provides the ability to mine through to 2039. We pride ourselves on the professionalism with which we pursue our goals and our strong links into our community.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, we are seeking a mining orientated Geologist to join the Geoscience team in Technical Services. You will work closely with the Short-Term Planning, Mid-Term Planning, Mining, CHPP & Logistics teams.
As a Geologist you are the interpreter between the resource and the operation, coupling your knowledge and experience with geological information to deliver safe, valuable, and efficient outcomes across the operation.

This role requires you to:

  • Collect and observe relevant information through mapping, sample, and production data to build back into and improve future plans.
  • Maintain a regular and proactive pit presence.
  • Provide the operation with direction, measurement, feedback and any other relevant information to maintain on-plan, on-spec and high-volume coal throughput.
  • Perform on-site geotechnical support and administration, oversighted by the Geotechnical Engineer
  • Work across a range of software to both review existing information and collect new information, building on databases relevant to modelling, mine designs, coal quality, recovery and handleability and geotechnical requirements.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Geoscience team as operational growth presents new and exciting challenges and as exploration expands across our Mining and Exploration Leases. We can tailor the role to best suit applicants current experience levels and can provide development pathways for future ambitions. You will be exposed to the broader business value chain and the critical role that Geoscience plays – important development for future career opportunities.
Geologists of all experience levels, from Graduate to Senior, are equally encouraged to apply, with the remuneration package considering experience and capability.
