Description:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced clerical officer t o deal with clerical and related issues arising from the death of a patient.
To ensure that all necessary documentation is completed correctly and that the deceased’s belongings are available on time for collection by relatives.
To be sensitive to the needs of the relatives both on the telephone and in person.
This post is to be worked 7.5 hours a week over 1 day. Working day would be a Thursday.
Daily contact the Mortuary for information regarding deceased patients. Dependent on the information provided, action in the following areas will be undertaken:
The death will be recorded in a register – highlighted to indicated special categories e.g. deaths in A&E.
Obtain death certificate by reference to doctor – being aware of implications of the issue of such a certificate i.e. certificate for immediate issues, Part A – notified to the Coroner or a full Coroner’s case.
Ascertain if there is to be a burial or cremation. Prepare cremation forms as appropriate.
Ensure that Mortuary receive appropriate release notes.
