Description:
The role covers patient care, staff education and support and building a good rapport with various external agencies To act as a role model by demonstrating high standards of behaviour and professionalism, through commitment to the integration of policies and procedures within this role and workplace. To deliver educational training programmes meeting the needs of multidisciplinary staff and students in relation to bereavement issues. The bereavement support midwife, as a clinical specialist will assist the Bereavement Midwife to provide support to women and their families who have experienced fetal loss or the death of a baby within the maternity setting. This will commence in the antenatal period and continue once the woman has gone home.
They will provide guidance and support to midwifery and medical staff when caring for women experiencing loss in pregnancy, stillbirth or early neonatal death
