Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

With the company showing continued growth, we are seeking a Bid Manager / Senior Estimator to join the Pre-Contracts team of the Engineering & Projects Customer Stream. This key role will have variety and flexibility in acting as a bid leader, senior estimator or a dual role and effectively acting as a “2 IC” to the Pre-contracts Manager.
Key aspects of the role include development of win strategies, strategic planning, pricing development and execution of tenders with overall end-to-end management of medium to large scale multi-discipline turnkey tenders. The role will have oversight and management of estimators, engineers and submissions teams for relevant tenders/ opportunities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting the Pre-contracts manager in the overall performance of the pre-contracts team
  • Leading and managing the bid team, estimators, engineers and other team members
  • Managing bids/tenders to ensuring are developed to a consistently high standard.
  • Interpreting bid/tender requirements and development of successful strategies
  • Either development of, or review of tender pricing
  • Working with relevant internal and external stakeholders to obtain the information required to compile the bid.
  • Assessing and addressing the technical and commercial risks relating to ongoing bids.
  • Overseeing the team during the bid process, ensuring internal deadlines are met, and bids are submitted on time.
  • Contributing to the assessment and selection of suitable tenders

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity surveying, Business or Finance
  • Experience in Construct only, D&C, ECI delivery models
  • Experience in the Water, Industrial, Materials Handling, Oil & Gas, Marine and Food & Beverage sectors is desired
  • Proven experience leading successful bids/tenders using best practices approaches
  • Experience in negotiation and sound understanding of contract management and cost optimisation
  • Identify and management commercial, financial and technical risks and opportunities
  • Government and Defence bid/tendering experience desirable
  • High degree of attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skill
