Hitachi Rail GTS is looking for a Bid Manager for Signalling, Operation Control Centre and Telecoms systems for Railway and Urban Transportation market (Tramway / Mainline / Metro). The Bid Manager ensure the preparation of a winning Technical-Economical proposal, within the assigned timeline and budget and respecting the required quality. The Bid Manager lead the tender process coordinating all involved functions.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Business
  • Proven experience in Railway Transport sector
  • Proven experience in Project or Bid management (or similar roles)
  • Technical background with strong inclination for commercial, contractual and financial exposure
  • Able to work under pressure and work effectively by leading and motivate multi-unit ad hoc bid teams
  • Demonstrated international exposure
  • Excellent Italian language (spoken and written)
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Excellent Communication and Negotiation skills
  • Result oriented, strong drive in a team context
  • Availability to travel both in Italy and abroad, including possible international mobility

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the overall tender preparation (offer or proposal).
  • In particular, he/she adequately applies Bid & Project Management processes, methodologies, techniques and tools aimed to achieve the objectives of the Bid, in full compliance with the assigned time and budget.
  • Able to manage highly complex Bid, with different disciplines involved (multidisciplinary Bid), in a national and international context, in collaboration with other Group Units (Bid “Multi-Unit / Multi-Country”).
  • Plans and coordinates Bid activities and the related resources of the Bid team, which he/she manages efficiently and in line with the company organization. Able to manage customers (both internal and external) and the various stakeholders of the Bid activity.
  • Responsible for the Bid process, in particular:
    o In collaboration with the Sales Manager and with the support of the Bid team, analyses the context, characteristics and requirements of the opportunity, defining the initial positioning and the most appropriate strategy for the success of the Bid, in line with the company mission and objectives.
    o Ensures the definition of the tender baseline for the development of the Bid activities and plans, coordinates and supervises the preparation of all Bid contributions (technical, commercial, financial, contractual) by the Bid team, ensuring their validation by the relevant supervisory authority and ensuring their completeness, quality and compliance in line with the internal process and with the Client’s requirements (for the offer deliverables).
    o Collects and consolidates the contributions for the economical valorisation of the Bid (cost estimate and, in collaboration with the Sales Manager and the Finance function, sales price and related economic-financial results).
    o During the various phases of the Bid, consolidate the contributions produced by the team and, in collaboration with the Sales Manager and with the support of the Bid team, presents and submits the offer to the Management for approval.
    o Support the Sales Manager, participate in commercial meetings and negotiations with the Customer, aimed at acquiring the order in line with the assigned mandate by the Management.
    o Ensure an adequate handover to the project team in case of order acquisition.
    o Manage communications between internal stakeholders and customers on matters pertaining to the bid (e.g. tender clarifications, corrigendum, cost + price review, etc)
    o Ensure compliance with the company values, the Code of Ethics, the Quality Manual and the Health, Security, Safety, Environment (HSE) regulations
