Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) currently has an exciting opportunity for a bilingual (English & French) individual to support our Dealer Standards & Sales Operations team. This is a full-time opportunity and will report to the Manager, Dealer Standards & Representation. The selected candidate will be responsible for Dealer Governance and Standards in the Toyota and Lexus Dealer Network. The successful candidate will regularly communicate with stakeholders including Dealer staff, lawyers, accountants, industry professionals, Zone staff, Legal Department, management and executives. They will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining all legal documents, while under the guidance of TCI’s Legal Department. This includes letters of commitment, dealer agreements, ancillary agreements, franchise agreements and renewals, and disclosure documents. The candidate will also prepare and communicate Dealership changes to TCI associates while interfacing with Dealers, outside counsel, tax consultant, new buyers, executive management and internal consultants.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Interact with Dealer Owners & Dealer Advisors on governance and legal matters
  • Review and interpreting dealer requests and legal documents, adhering to and recommending new TCI procedures/policies
  • Research company precedents, draft and update TCI legal documents and dealer letters
  • Analyze and assemble all Dealer Requests for Change communicating with Zones when documentation is required
  • Review and submit new candidate background checks to outside firm for Dealer Principal/General Manager positions and shareholders/holding companies
  • Prepare Letters of Commitment and customizes drafts to properly protect TCI interests
  • Prepare and presents A3s/A4s for Dealer corporate status changes/relocation/renovations for Executive approval
  • Prepare new Toyota or Lexus Dealer Agreements as well as Amending Agreements, Master Information Sharing Agreements and NADAP Agreements, when required
  • Monitor information changes relevant to Franchise Disclosure Documents (Toyota and Lexus) and ensures documents are maintained and issued to standards of legal compliance
  • Review and process additions/changes to Toyota/Lexus Dealer Standards and ensures committee review is completed before they are finalized
  • Ensure Toyota and Lexus Master files are current and well maintained
  • Special Projects and other duties as required

What You’ll Bring:

  • University degree, preferably in the Legal Field (Paralegal or Law Clerk) or related discipline
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
  • Strong understanding of business organization, corporate share structure, financials, dealer operations, automotive industry
  • Ability to lead cross-functional groups internally
  • Knowledge of Franchisor and Franchisee business relationship
  • Self-starter who can work with limited supervision
  • Strong analytical, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Teams
  • Knowledge of SOX audit requirements
  • Experience with SAP and InfoStream is an asset
