JOB SUMMARY

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our People (HR) Advisors, we’d ask you to do the following for us:

  • Respond primarily by email to inquiries from managers and associates regarding employee relations matters by:
  • Interpreting and explaining company policies, procedures, practices, and programs.
  • Advising and assisting managers, supervisors, associates on the interpretation and application of the provincial employment legislations.
  • Providing advice and guidance to managers and associates for unionized locations.
  • Providing guidance to managers in handling employee relations issues and in resolving complaints or disputes.
  • Investigate issues and provide resolution on the following:
  • Complaints about working conditions
  • Disciplinary actions
  • Discrimination allegations, or other HR related matters.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as preparing disciplines, terminations and other letters/memos as required by operations.
  • Work on special projects, such as drafting or updating policy and processes both independently and as part of a team.

  • Minimum two years of experience as an HR Generalist/Specialist/Advisor within a large company, preferably with exposure to unionized associates and collective agreements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related
  • Advanced computer skills including ability to perform HRIS queries (i.e. JD Edwards, SAP), generate reports, perform web-based research, and create case management files in HR ticketing software (i.e. Remedy).
  • Knowledge of employment labor law in multiple provinces is an asset
  • Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Readily adaptable to changing work priorities.
  • Ability to de-escalate situations and handle difficult conversations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate versatility, flexibility, and an enthusiasm about working with constantly changing priorities.
