EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Two years’ administrative experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Experience working with the Latino community preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of computer systems (MS Office products) and ability to navigate web based applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Answers incoming telephone calls and welcomes all persons entering the clinic
  • Transfers calls appropriately and uses the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to update patients’ arrival status.
  • Schedules lab and provider appointments through the EMR, assuring provider continuity and patients’ satisfaction.
  • Serves as liaison between providers and patients.
  • Answers preliminary non-medical questions.
  • Makes reminder calls for next day appointments.
  • Calls patients and reschedules cancelled or missed appointments within 48 hours of missed appointment.
  • Updates patient information in the EMR as needed.
  • Distributes the daily incoming mail and packages and maintains the logbook for packages.
  • Handles cash regularly, to include receiving payment for provider visits and providing complete coverage of cashier duties as needed.
  • Orients and trains volunteers for the front desk and supervises their participation.
  • Assists in specialty referral process by notifying patients of upcoming specialist appointments, distributing referral letters, and maintaining a record of confirmed appointments.
  • Assists with implementation of Maryland Medicaid acceptance at the clinic as assigned.
  • Provides coverage for eligibility specialist as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
