QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED; Associate’s degree preferred.
- 5 years working with public including demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with external community resource staff.
- Detail oriented and able to maintain accurate records.
- Availability to travel to job fairs and community events, and meet with clients on week days, evenings and weekends as needed.
- Bilingual Spanish/English capability.
Responsibilities:
- Prescreen low income households for program eligibility and assist them in completing the application process by phone, during home visits or at the offices of other agencies.
- Accompany applicants to the required interview with the Department of Social Services, if requested. Using the forms provided by Hunger Solutions New York, record any problems or barriers clients encounter at DSS.
- Conduct follow up client phone calls to assess client’s need for further application assistance, and inquire about DSS’s final determination of eligibility.
- Provide translation services for all phases of the application process for limited English proficiency applicants.
- Maintain accurate file records describing the types of assistance and follow up efforts offered to each household.
- Distribute outreach materials to churches, non-profit agencies and attend Health Fairs and Community Days.
- Maintain an adequate monthly caseload to ensure reaching program targets.
