Description:

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Be proficient in computer operations, word processing, email, spreadsheets, student database systemsand other equipment, such as copiers, telephones, and fax machines.
  • Bilingual Parent Support Assistant will be expected to travel to various schools for events and parentoutreach.
  • Bilingual Parent Support Assistant will be expected to participate in some evening events and occasionalweekend events.
  • Experience working with young children and families preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Parent Educator hosting activities, to enhance parent participation in two-way meaningful communication with the school regarding children’s learning and other school activities
  • Support the active engagement of parents (English and Spanish) in their child’s education at school
  • Work effectively with people of differing backgrounds
  • Provide support as needed with interpreting or translating for Spanish speaking families
  • Support Spanish speaking families during Parent Education activities
  • Support outreach efforts to engage Spanish speaking parents to attend and participate in various workshops, meetings, advisory committees and other special events
  • Keep a record of parent participation in programs and activities
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties
