Your new role, what’s involved?

  • Oversee the Specialist Team comprising experts in Facade Engineering, Lighting Design, and Acoustics in all elements of the BIM delivery scope to ensure the seamless integration of these disciplines into multidisciplinary design projects.
  • BIM scope delivery and lead the development and implementation of innovative and holistic facade engineering solutions that balance aesthetics and performance, considering factors such as building enclosure systems, natural ventilation, noise control, and energy efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, developers, and portfolio managers to provide expert advice on facade planning, design, materials procurement, construction, and maintenance, ensuring alignment with project objectives and industry standards.
  • Manage and coordinate the deployment through BIM of specialized lighting design solutions tailored to the unique requirements of each project, integrating natural and artificial lighting to enhance visual comfort, energy efficiency, and human well-being.
  • Provide BIM related strategic guidance on acoustics-related aspects of projects, including baseline noise level monitoring, noise modelling, and environmental impact assessments, to optimize sound quality and mitigate potential disturbances.
  • Ensure that the Specialist Team delivers high-quality information, data, and models to stakeholders within the project supply chain, adhering to contractual requirements and best practices in each discipline.
  • Conduct capability and competence assessments of potential supply chain partners to ensure their suitability for project involvement, particularly in relation to facade engineering, lighting design, and acoustics.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to define project scopes, identify risks, and develop comprehensive building execution plans (BEPs) that incorporate the specialized expertise of the Specialist Team.
  • Negotiate BIM scope with clients, highlighting exclusions, risks, and best practices to support the approval of BEPs and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Implement and administer Building Information Management (BIM) systems and solutions within projects, including configuration, maintenance, and administration of the project Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Enforce adherence to open BIM standards such as IFC or building SMART, as well as international standards like BS EN ISO 19650 or PAS1192 series, across all facets of project delivery.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among team members, encouraging the integration of leading-edge BIM applications into project workflows for improved scheduling, cost management, asset management, and operations and maintenance (O&M).
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential opportunities and risks related to facade engineering, lighting design, and acoustics within projects, ensuring proactive management of project deliverables.
  • Provide structured reporting to project management teams, business unit leaders, and client representatives, including comprehensive updates on BIM issues, clash detection audits, model development status, and project close-out requirements.
  • Support the identification of learning and development requirements within the project supply chain, facilitating continuous improvement and professional growth among team members.
