Description:

Berkeley Lab’s (LBNL) Molecular Biophysics and Integrated Bioimaging Division (MBIB) has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the team as part of the Niyogi lab to address questions related to photoacclimation mechanisms in plants and algae by using structural biology techniques.
In this exciting role, you will specifically work on cryo-EM/ET observation and analysis of photosynthetic protein complexes. The group’s projects will include elucidating molecular mechanisms of photoacclimation to excess light conditions in diverse photosynthetic organisms and investigating the structural basis of protein-protein interactions in thylakoid membranes.
You will have access to the Cal-Cryo facility at QB3-Berkeley, which provides researchers with state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopes and related tools for high-resolution structural biology studies. Having access to the cryo-focused ion beam milling at EML-Berkeley. We have access to unique computational resources of the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), which will provide high-performance computing for our data analysis.
