Description:

Interior Health is looking for a Clinical Informatics Analyst II to join the team on a full time permanent basis from our Kelowna location.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of a recognized program in Biomedical Electronics Technology, plus 5 years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience required. Education and/or experience in supervision, management and coaching.
Eligible for membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of B.C. required. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License required.

Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises Biomedical Engineering Technologists throughout Interior Health by coordinating work assignments, approving payroll, evaluating employee performance, determining related training and orientation requirements, and carries out disciplinary action.
  • Assists in the provision of service continuation by working with other Supervisors to schedule leaves of absence, including vacation, shift rotations and training courses.
  • Deals with clinical staff concerns and works to resolve service delivery issues.
  • Guides, coaches and supports technologists to ensure consistent and efficient service delivery and record keeping. Conducts department orientation for new technologists.
  • Assists in the provision of technologist professional development by identifying and recommending education priorities and needs.
  • Assists in the selection of staff by reviewing applications, conducting interviews and reference checks, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Authorizes the purchase of service parts within limits designated by the Manager, Biomedical Engineering. Assists the Biomedical Engineering Support Clerk and Purchasing with troubleshooting incorrect or delayed parts deliveries.
  • Assigns and follows up on Device Alerts, Incident Investigations and other Medical Device safety issues.
  • Reviews the work of contract service personnel. Reviews service contract proposals and makes recommendations regarding their purchase, renewal or cancellation.
  • Participates in, and assigns technologists as required to biomedical equipment prioritization planning, RFP technical specifications development, equipment evaluation, and installation project teams.
  • Ensures compliance with department policies and procedures; participates in quality improvement activities by suggesting quality indicators.
  • Assists with the preparation of biomedical engineering capital and operating budgets.
  • Performs analysis of statistical records and reports on various activities within their area by methods such as gathering data, recording, tabulating and summarizing information for budgetary requirements and workload monitoring.
  • Ensures the practice of safe work procedures relating to the servicing of clinical equipment.
  • Performs the duties of a Biomedical Engineering Technologist as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
