We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of a BIW Process Engineer. The ideal candidate should possess expertise and experience in the skill sets mentioned below.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Develop layouts and define manufacturing process plans for the BIW area
  • Prepare process documents: Sequence of Steps (SOS), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), PFMEA, and control plans
  • Implement lean process planning and improvements to reduce costs and eliminate waste (NVAs)
  • Enhance process capability through Poka Yoke and cycle time calculations; recommend appropriate equipment (robots, grippers, fixtures, weld guns, etc.)
  • Study ergonomics to eliminate professional hazards and improve productivity
  • Utilize digital tools for MBOM, virtual build, process planning, sequencing, validation, and analysis
  • Conduct time studies using observations, PMTS tools, and line balancing to determine manpower requirements
  • Manage process changes in alignment with design change releases
  • Collaborate within the team for integrated solutions to meet customer quality and timeline expectations
  • Participate in internal and customer reviews to ensure adherence to expectations and guidelines

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience in BIW facility and process planning, line setup for Auto OEMs
  • Knowledge of various joining technologies, BIW manufacturing standards, and quality assurance practices
  • Proficient in conducting process and tooling trials, time estimations, OEE calculation, and improvement projects
  • Experience in cost estimation for manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic manufacturing lines
  • Strong understanding of line layout design, capacity calculations, station design, takt time and cycle time calculations, build sequence, lean principles, and DFM/DFA
  • Ability to provide solutions for installation, integration, and line prove-out problems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Industrial, Production Engineering or equivalent

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, project management
  • Proficient in software: AutoCAD, Teamcenter, Catia, and process authoring tools
