The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Boeing Software Factory team located in Centennial, CO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
This position will be responsible for leading high priority software development and devops tasks related to supporting Boeing Software Factory Integration.
This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Centennial, CO.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 4+ years of experience developing Python modules and/or scripts
- 5+ years of experience with GitLab, Azure DevOps and CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery)
- 3+ years of experience as a product or technical lead
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 5+ years of experience managing development environments using Salt or a similar tool
- 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining Helm charts and Kubernetes deployments
- 3+ years of experience with Bazel (Module development preferred)
- Rust development experience
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
- Demonstrable ability to solve difficult problems in short periods of time, often with little guidance
TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Responsibilities:
- Decompose work related to supporting programs moving into the BSF
- Focus on solutions that will benefit the BSF as a whole by utilizing common products and services to meet program needs
- Interact with applicable program counter parts to really understand their requirements and suggest best practices to help them get there
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers working on the program interaction team
- Coordinate with Developer Experience Team Lead to capture updates to common products and flow them into tools that the Developer Experience Team is producing
- Seek to automate on-boarding and support tasks for programs
- A fast paced, small team that assists programs moving into the Boeing Software Factory by providing devops support that includes (but not limited to):
- Gitlab CI Pipeline implementation and updates to existing pipelines
- Bazel module updates and implementation to support various development languages (Python, C++, Ada, etc…)
- Python tool development
- Works under general direction with various teams
