The Respiratory Centre at University Hospital Southampton, NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is looking for an organised and enthusiastic team player with good telephone and interpersonal skills, to join our hardworking team of administrators.
The role is being offered on a part time basis of 22.5 hours per week. The post holder will be required to work 3 days a week Monday - Friday. Hours and Days to be arranged with the successful candidate. Your job role will be mainly dealing with the Pulmonary Function Tests with some cross cover.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide an excellent customer service to patients, relatives/carers and to external agencies.
  • To provide and maintain clinical utilisation by the contact and confirmation of appointments with patients.
  • To book and highlight all available clinical capacity within short tern arounds.
  • To work in a Speciality Administration Team (SAT) and provide cross-cover for other staff across the Care Group to ensure a consistent and

effective administration service is maintained at all times.

  • Register referrals and make arrangements for clinical grading.
  • Arrange inpatient appointments, confirming, cancelling, and changing appointments as necessary for both pre-assessment and admission.
  • Create, maintain, and make additions to waiting lists.
  • Ensure patients are communicated with effectively in relation to their appointments/admission via email, phone, or letter.
  • Arrange transport and translation services where necessary.
  • Ensure appointments/admissions are in line with the Trust’s access policy, highlighting issues and taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Process requests for clinic/admission changes, cancellations, and creations.
  • Courteously and efficiently receive all telephone enquiries from patients, carers, and external agencies in relation to hospital admissions,

appointments and general enquiries, ensuring that accurate records, both manual and electronic, are maintained and appropriate action is

taken in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that patient phone calls are answered in accordance with Trust policy.
