POSITION OVERVIEW:

Title: Bookkeeper/Junior Accountant
Work hours: Full time, On-site, Monday thru Friday with a flexibility of one’s schedule
Location: 35 Gostick Place, North Vancouver, BC, V7M 3N2

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous bookkeeping experience or in a similar accounting role particularly in a manufacturing environment is a definite asset.
  • Experience with ERP systems; particularly with INFOR Syteline, a significant advantage.
  • Proficient in payroll processing and relevant software applications with the ADP payroll system an asset.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational abilities and self-motivation to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

EDUCATION:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, Bookkeeping Certification) will be an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Government Reporting: Prepare various government reports, including GST, PST, WCB, ROE, payroll remittance and corporation tax installments.
  • General Ledger Management: Set up new GL accounts, journalize transactions and prepare necessary adjusting entries.
  • Payroll and Accruals: Process payroll for approximately 100 employees, prepare monthly payroll accruals, other expense accruals and quarterly financial statements.
  • Cash Management: Record cash receipts and disbursements; prepare multiple bank and credit card reconciliations, manage both USD and CAD accounts as well as other currency transactions.
  • Accounts Receivable: Maintain and reconcile the customer sub-ledger; post and send invoices, apply payments and credits and record all accounts receivable transactions.
  • Accounts Payable: Maintain and reconcile the vendor sub-ledger by recording purchase invoices; prepare weekly cheque runs and manage payments through various methods including EFT, E Transfers, cheques, credit cards and wire transfers to non-domestic vendors.
  • Employee Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits, including the Health tax and extended health insurance, while maintaining accurate employee records including ROEs.
  • Year-End Preparation: Prepare year-end working papers and facilitate communication with our external accountant; prepare year-end journal entries and manage year-end roll-overs.
