Description:

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles to support our financial operations effectively.
We are flexible with the work arrangement and hours, but the preferred schedule for the ideal candidate is Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a half-hour lunch break. We will be relocating to a new yard/office on the South end of Midland on April 1st and would like the candidate to begin within the first week of April 2025.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Quickbooks Online.
  • Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, bank reconciliation, account analysis, and budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • MUST be local to the Midland/Penetang area. Remote work will not be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing.
  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Conduct account analysis and reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist in budgeting processes by providing relevant financial data and insights.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with Union Collective Agreements (Local 183 & Local 793). We currently use a third-party company called Payworks.
  • Utilize accounting software such as Quickbooks Online for efficient record-keeping and reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory filings.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed.
