Description:
Our Client, Stepping Stone, in Guelph, is looking for a Bookkeeper to join their team! Reporting to the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for both accounts payable and receivable along with all payroll and reconciliation tasks. In this role, your duties will include ensuring accurate wage payments, calculating overtime earnings, and updating employee information on the payroll system. To be successful as a Bookkeeper you should have strong numeracy skills and be able to multitask effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Accounting Certificate or degree through college or university. CPA not required.
- In depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
- Previous experience in processing payroll
- Experience in full cycle bookkeeping
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and Payworks is an asset
- High standard of integrity with exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Excellent work ethic, dependable, and organized
- Ability to work on own initiatives and meet deadlines
Responsibilities:
- Handling and completing books, including organizing paperwork, weekly data entry, updating daily cash flows, preparing excel worksheets and credit card reconciliations
- Preparing and submitting government remittances as required, HST, WSIB, EHT, and payroll deductions
- Processing payroll bi-weekly, and maintaining and updating payroll records
- Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies
- Oversee the administration of Stepping Stone’s benefits and group retirement saving plan
- All month end and year end functions
- Processing bill payments
- Preparing bank deposits and maintaining correspondence with the financial institutions
- Track accounts payables and receivables
- Other administrative tasks as required
