Description:
Branch Manager - Shipping Agency - Cape Town, South Africa
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Branch Manager to be based in Cape Town for a leading international shipping line; as the Branch Manager, you will oversee all shipping agency activities in Cape Town.
As the Branch Manager, you will play a crucial role in setting up and managing the branch office, developing business strategies for new business areas, and establishing the best business processes to achieve targets in line with the company’s overall strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all areas of the business (operations, sales and commercial, documentation, and finance activities)
- Drive sales and business development strategies and activities
- Play a key role in customer implementation, development, and retention.
- Provide operational knowledge and support to the branch, ensuring smooth account management.
- Assess and report on financial results and operational performance, ensuring department profitability.
- Recruit, train, and manage branch employees
- Be responsible for the branch budget and P&L
Must haves:
- Tertiary education in business, marketing, or commerce is preferable.
- At least 5 years of management experience in the shipping line industry.
- Experience in sales and business development is required.
- Proficiency in writing professional sales proposals and standard operating
- procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in verbal and written English
