Description:

The brand and community engagement manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance the organisation’s brand presence and foster community engagement. This role will involve creating and managing content, engaging with stakeholders, organising events, and public relations, and leveraging social media to build a strong and supportive community around our mission.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Qualification and experience
    Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in brand management, content creation, community engagement, or a similar role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
    Proven ability to develop and implement successful brand and community engagement strategies.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    Experience with event planning and management.
    Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Passion for the nonprofit sector and a commitment to the organisation’s mission.
    Experience and a good understanding of content, visual communication, and digital marketing
    Interested in crowdfunding, technology, and startups
    Experience working with Google AdWords, Google Analytics, and campaign reporting
    Strong knowledge and experience in online marketing, social media advertising, online reputation management, and associated disciplines including content strategies
    Extensive experience with website content management systems
    Outstanding communication and presentation skills

2. ADVANTAGEOUS TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

Fundraising experience (individual giving and corporate).
Familiar with working on Customer Relationship Management tools and donor management tools e.g. DevMan, Little Green Light.
Experience with graphic design and multimedia production (Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Suite).
Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing best practices.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy and Budget
    Strategic input within Feenix Executive Management Team and collaborating to develop and drive organisational strategy and programme delivery.
    Develop and implement a departmental strategy to achieve organisational goals
    Develop and manage departmental budget.
    Strategic collaboration with CEO, Student Advancement Manager, and Head of Fundraising for stakeholder engagement (students, individual donors, corporate donors, universities, sponsors and other partners)
  2. People Management
    Manage all direct reports in accordance with Feenix policies to meet the Student Advancement Department and the Organisational objectives and targets and individual performance plans.
    Provide leadership and direction to direct reports including providing feedback, training, coaching, and continuous development on an informal and formal basis.
    In consultation with CEO & Operations, lead performance reviews and plans for direct reports.
    Ensure people resources within the Department are managed effectively, specifically ensuring recruitment, probation, and fixed-term contracts meet Program resourcing needs, and that leave, and flexible hours, are approved appropriately.
    Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and personal growth.
    Lead a positive culture within the department including facilitating constructive meetings, providing career opportunities, providing role context, and ensuring the celebration of achievement.
  3. High-Level Brand Development and Brand Management
    Develop and implement brand strategies that align with the organisation’s mission and values.
    Maintain the Feenix brand, ensuring consistent brand voice and persona across all communication channels and materials.
    Monitor and analyse brand performance, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
    Manage all digital brand and communications assets.
    Make data-driven decisions.
  4. Community Engagement
    Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
    Develop and implement community engagement strategies to increase awareness and support for the organisation’s mission.
    Organise and oversee community events, both virtual and in-person, to engage and expand the community base.
  5. Content Creation
    Create compelling content for various platforms, including social media, newsletters, blogs, and press releases.
    Work across teams to highlight the incredible students and stories in the Feenix ecosystem.
    Collaborate with the team to produce multimedia content that highlights the organisation’s impact and initiatives.
    Manage the content calendar to ensure timely and relevant communication.
    Lead the content and design of the Annual Report each year.
  6. Social Media Management
    Develop and execute social media strategies to enhance engagement and grow the organisation’s online presence.
    Monitor social media channels, responding to comments and messages in a timely manner.
    Analyse social media metrics to inform strategy and improve performance.
  7. Stakeholder Engagement
    Engage with donors and volunteers to foster a sense of community and appreciation.
    Work with the fundraising team to support donor retention and acquisition efforts.
    Develop partnerships with other organisations and influencers to broaden the organisation’s reach.
    Build and maintain strategic partnerships with high-profile South African brands.
  8. Public Relations
    Manage and report on media relations, including drafting press releases, briefing PR agencies or external agencies, and coordinating media outreach.
    Act as a spokesperson for the organisation when needed.
