Description:
To work as part of the breast Care Unit team making and changing appointments as required, using a variety of software systems. Checking and amending patients’ demographic details to ensure accurate data quality and ensure relevant action is taken with the information. Prepare paperwork for the clinics held on mobile units and at base. Check client and screening information and input details returned from the daily screening sessions on mobile units onto the national breast screening system.
Enter imaging, clinical details and histology results accurately onto the database. Process normal results by updating individual client records, producing relevant letters and send to women in a timely manner. Handle telephone enquiries, take messages and provide non-medical advice. To act as a first line for dealing with difficult telephone queries, face to face questions and queries from clinical staff related to admin tasks.
Sort and prioritise incoming mail. To be aware of the confidential nature of the work and maintain strictest confidence when dealing with patients, relatives, staff and outside agencies in accordance with the data protection act. The successful post holder will be expected to assess and treat their own workload They will be expected to work well within a team and independently and be able to communicate effectively with patients and a wide range of staff from across the hospital setting. As a Clerical officer you will ensure that all key responsibilities are maintained as laid out within the job description.
The Clerical Officer will work in partnership with the already existing team of breast unit staff, as well as outpatient staff, external colleagues
