Description:
Seeking a Brewer for our Guelph location. Continental Rotation of 12-hour Days and Nights on Weekdays. Weekend coverage may be required. Hourly rate: as per SEA collective agreement ($28.91/ hour to start, $32.03 after 4 months, $35.16 after 10 months and $38.27 after 16 months).
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Produce wort within specifications in the brew house, cool into fermenters, yeast handling
- CIP brew house, tanks, centrifuge, filter, and associated equipment
- Operate the centrifuge, filter and associated equipment
- Provide the packaging department with high quality bright beer
- Monitor and manipulate processes in the waste water treatment plant
- Data entry, spreadsheet calculations and other analytical tasks
- Maintain CIP checklists; remove recycling and garbage as required
- Handling of brewing materials as needed
- Perform cleaning and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree of Science / Brewing College Diploma
- Hands-on brewing experience considered an asset
- General mechanical aptitude, good troubleshooting, and quick learning skills
- Knowledge of brewery CIP processes, cleaning chemicals, and WHMIS.
- Good math and computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- A positive work attitude, with the ability to multi-task; reliable
- Must be physically fit to be able to spend long hours standing and perform occasional medium to heavy lifting (e.g. specialty malt or hops up to 30 kgs)
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to perform duties to a high level of standard under minimal direct supervision
- Forklift operation required, with in-house training and certification
- Candidates will need to satisfactorily complete a brewing knowledge assessment
