What are we looking for?
The Broadcast Systems Engineer role sees you in at the heart of Techex in our Technical Team working across pre-sales, design, implementation, and support to delight our customers.
Our experts have a multidisciplinary skills set to provide world class, solution design, and commissioning and support for tier 1 live broadcast systems. The role can be based Leeds or Bracknell.

The Role
- Lead and support the design, deployment, and ongoing improvement of next generation customer partner platforms.
- Providing outstanding support for our technology partners products as well as our own software
- Work with technology partners to develop and test cutting edge products and features enabling new broadcast platforms.
- Have a positive customer-oriented attitude, solid verbal and written English communications skills.
- Create, maintain, and develop close relationships with engineers at our customers and partners, ensuring they are supported in design and support engagements.
- Keep in touch with and be a part of new innovations in the broadcast and IT industries.
- Manage projects, tasks, and resources as part of customer project deliveries.
- Organise your own time and priorities for all aspects of the role, including support, commissioning, and research.
- Provide out-of-hours on-call mission critical support as part of a 24/7 premier service to exclusive global clients.
What you will need
- Demonstrable experience of Scripting & Automation e.g. Ansible, Terraform, Python
- Experience of deploying and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle
- Experience of using network analysis/packet capture tools such as Wireshark
- Understanding of real time transport and encapsulation protocols such as RTP, UDP, SRT, RIST, ZIXI, and MPEG-TS
- Linux server operating system experience
- Experience in a client facing role with an eye for detail and ability to manage workloads and priorities effectively in an agile environment.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving abilities as well as effective communication, presentation, planning and organisation skills.
- Knowledge of audio/video and media standards (e.g AVC, HEVC, JPEG-XS, ST 2022, ST 2110)
Desirable
- IP Networking experience for broadcast or other real-time data environments
- Ability to use test equipment/software to analyse MPEG streams
- Experience of multicast network design and troubleshooting
- Experience of public cloud platform architecture/design
- CCNP or higher/equivalent non-cisco qualification (Routing & Switching or Data-Centre/SDN)
- Experience with either Influx, Redis, Kafka, Grafana, Kibana
