JOB DESCRIPTION

Section: Financial Planning and Budgeting
Division: Finance

Initial Reporting Location: Tom Davies Square
Job Status: Permanent Position
Affiliation: Inside Unit
Hours of Work: 70 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: No
Range of Pay: Group 12 - $33.11 to $41.77 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Community College Diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Accounting, Business Administration or related program).
  • Completion of Municipal Accounting and Finance Program under AMCTO considered an asset.
  • Over two and one-half (2½) years up to and including five (5) years of related experience in budgeting and/or accounting..
  • Knowledge of budgeting and planning with particular reference to municipal budgeting.
  • Knowledge of municipal finance function.
  • Knowledge of accounting and internal control systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and related regulations.
  • Demonstrate and proven ability related to microcomputer software applications and administrative systems (e.g. word processing, computerized spreadsheet applications, information input and retrieval, etc.).
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft/ERP systems.
  • Ability to prepare operating budgets for CGS.
  • Demonstrate time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate work flow management ability.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent use of English, verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal skills considered an asset.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history
  • Physical capability to operate a vehicle safely, possession of a valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record, will be considered an asset.
    This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development opportunity.
    Development opportunity range of pay: $30.86 to $38.35 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced range until the minimum qualifications have been met.
