ABOUT US:
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
The Finance Branch leads the department’s efforts to comply with government and legislative financial management responsibilities while driving a culture of strategic financial management across the department. It is responsible for the department’s financial and budgetary policies and processes, including statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation compliance, government reporting (including Standing Directions), and facilitation of the annual budget process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification with a major in Accounting and eligibility for member of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Budget and Finance Analyst, reporting through the Manager, Budget Coordination, provides support to the management of budgeting process for the department, including compiling and analysing budget data and maintaining forward estimates. This role also requires liaison with key service delivery areas of the department and central agencies on budget related matters.
SOME OF YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Supporting budget financial planning and policy development for and across the department.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to assist with department wide and specific financial analysis.
- Supporting complex financial analysis, advice and reviews that informs the department’s strategic decision making and effective financial management.

About You:As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Expert knowledge of the Financial Management Act 1994, and Resource Management Framework.
- Experience in working in financial management within the Victorian Government Environment.
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and research skills with an aptitude for problem solving in the context of financial and budget resource management.
