JOB SUMMARY

This position’s primary area of responsibility is budget analysis, forecasting, and variance explanation related to TWU financial activity Position will be responsible for monitoring budget to actual variances on a regular and on-going basis, fielding budget and financial questions, and assisting departments with budget-related needs including training. The ability to interpret statutes and organizational policies in order to provide guidance related to campus expenditures is an expectation for this position. Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area required. Emphasis in accounting and/or finance is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Four years of related job experience required. Experience working in a college or university environment preferred.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  • Conducts budgetary and financial analyses, forecasts, and projections to identify gaps, trends, and need for short- and long-term adjustments.
  • Prepares professional and timely financial reports to assist management with planning and decision-making.
  • Monitors and analyzes departmental operating accounts. Assists departments to address budget overages and process budget transfers as needed.
  • Answers budget and finance questions related to campus expenditures as required.
  • Assists Budget Analyst III with position control review and tracking. Prepares budget transfers for vacancy savings and assignment changes.
  • Runs daily payroll processing reports and follows-up as required.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and develops variance explanations related to campus expenditures on a regular and on-going basis.
  • Provides training in areas related to budget processes in Oracle Cloud.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Budget and/or the AVP in the development, and implementation, of documented processes for the review, and identification, of significant variances in actuals to budget on a periodic basis.
  • Assists in annual budget preparation as needed
