Nutrition International’s Corporate Services (CS) unit is a dedicated team of Finance and Administrative experts with extensive global experience. The unit leads on providing global Accounting, Finance, Budget, and Compliance, Contracting and Procurement, Facilities management, and Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT). Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Bilingual Budgeting and Compliance Manager to be based in Ottawa, Canada.

Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate and work with unit directors and program staff at HQ, regional and country offices to set up donor grant and program budgets for assigned portfolio within NI’s system and ensure regular maintenance and adjustments over the life cycle of donor grants and NI’s budgeting cycles.
  • Assist program staff in formulating quarterly forecasts, including variances against previous budgets and forecasts in line with project activity workplans and donor submissions and ensure accurate, complete and reasonable forecasts and budgets are reflected within NI’s systems.
  • Assist program staff in translating donor budgets and workplans into NI’s Program of Work and Budget (PWB) asks, by reviewing and validating amounts in NI’s systems (Board, CDB etc.).
  • Ensure regular overview of contractual commitments within NI’s systems (CDB or other) to ensure there are no outdated milestones and known commitments and their disbursement timings are accurate.
  • Work in collaboration with finance, program and business development at required levels within the organization in developing budgets for proposals ensuring maximum direct cost-recovery, clear budgetary assumptions/notes in line with donor templates, rules and conditions.
  • Ensure proposal budgets are in line with narrative proposals and are a good estimate of proposed activities.
  • Responsible for reviewing and compiling donor financial reports ensuring reconciliation with NI’s general ledger and in compliance with donor terms and conditions, including timely submissions in the required formats and in line with activity implementation and narrative reporting and in coordination with program units or focal points.
  • Lead development of work plan budgets in close coordination with relevant program focal points and leads required for either donor submissions or NI’s systems.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to relevant stakeholders including HQ project team members, Regional, Country Offices and partners on understanding donor financial compliance, identifying financial risks and other best practices related to financial management and ensuring compliance requirements are understood and adhered to at all levels.
  • Ensure all project expenditures and contracts are following terms and conditions of donor agreements by conducting regular desk audits as well as occasional in-field audits.
  • Work closely with Country teams to prepare for donor audits. Oversee coordination of donor audits with field offices for assigned portfolio of projects.
