Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
Salary - Based on a 40 hour working week.
Level 1: $71,529 - $79,477 per annum
Level 2: $78,464 - $87,182 per annum
Level 3: $93,200 - $103,556 per annum
Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.

Responsibilities:

It’s not just carrying out inspections, you will also be delivering professional advice and educating the industry on how and why we adhere to the Building Act. You will be responsible for:

  • Complete timely, accurate and concise site reports and records of site inspections in a professional and consistent manner
  • Verify that the construction project reflects the approved consent documents and details approval
  • Providing advice and/or resolving building issues from a building inspection perspective, liaising with other sections of Council as appropriate.
  • Resolving customer enquires and complaints
  • Ensuring your knowledge of the Building Act, Regulations, and Code is up to date.
