Description:
Located in SW Calgary, Westside Recreation Centre is a 250,000 ft² facility which includes a Fitness Centre, Childcare, Aquatic area, Ice surfaces, Gymnasiums, Studios, Multipurpose Rooms and more!
We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Building Operations Manager/Superintendent to oversee the daily operations of our large recreation centre. This vital role requires a hands-on leader with a strong service-oriented mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining our facilities high standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Building Operator B Ticket or 5th Class Steam Engineers Ticket
- Proven experience in building operations management, ideally within a recreation or sports facility.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of team development and collaboration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong service orientation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Facility Manager, Pool Operator Certification) are a plus.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in facility management.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of building operations, including maintenance, safety, and facility management.
- Ensure the efficient operation of all mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and energy management.
- Lead, train, and supervise a diverse team of maintenance and operations staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the safety and functionality of the facility.
- Communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and community stakeholders to address needs and enhance service delivery.
- Oversee budgeting and financial management for operational expenses, ensuring cost-effective practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and guest experience.
