POSITION OVERVIEW:

This role is located at our East Village location. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the site(s) to ensure clean and safe environment for tenants, customers, contractors and employees. Shift Timings: Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm with the ability to be rotational on-call. Possible overtime needed depending on site requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of previous relevant work experience. Any related post-secondary diploma or certificate considered an asset;
  • 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering Certification is required;
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Ability to adapt to new processes and procedures;
  • Work may involve uncomfortable environmental working conditions;
  • Maintenance experience in a retail / commercial property environment an asset;
  • Sound knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, emergency systems and fire and life safety;
  • Execute all work in a safe and professional manner and in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation guidelines and other applicable regulations;
  • Familiarity with safe work practices and construction standards;
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule all work to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office- Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.);
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills; ensures operations records, files and documentation are maintained in an orderly, accurate and timely fashion;
  • Exceptional communication skills, communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written, within the company and clients;
  • Mature and self-motivated team player.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to tenant service requests in timely manner;
  • Liaise with tenants and contractors to maintain relationships;
  • Conduct daily property checks ensuring the property is maintained in a first-class manner;
  • Overseeing preventative maintenance and repairs and maintenance of HVAC systems;
  • Ensure fire life safety systems are operating efficiently;
  • Proactively identify and rectify any general maintenance issues including but not limited to; painting, building envelop, janitorial, snow removal, landscaping, signages, lighting and pressure washing, to maintain curb appeal of the properties;
  • System monitoring of mechanical equipment, including building automation systems;
  • Reviewing & monitoring contracted work to ensure scope of work is being performed in compliance with building standards;
  • Coordinate contractor access and ensure all deficiencies are rectified;
  • Communicate with manager on building inefficiencies;
  • Liaise with internal and external contacts for prompt and professional investigation and resolution to concerns;
  • Provide on-call coverage and be available to work after-hours and weekends for any site emergency and/or unscheduled work;
  • Assist with seasonal building requirements;
  • Basic plumbing, lighting, electrical, elevating devices, roofing, carpentry and miscellaneous repairs on site or overseeing of such unscheduled repairs as necessary;
  • Communicate and execute work procedures as set out by management;
  • Travel between properties as required;
  • Other assigned duties as required.
