Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven Regional Transport Partnerships, established by the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005. As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, delivers projects directly and in partnership with others, and is responsible for preparation of the statutory Regional Transport Strategy for the west of Scotland.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Bus Development Coordinator to join the Bus Development team within our wider Bus Strategy and Delivery department. SPT is leading on the development of the Strathclyde Regional Bus Strategy (SRBS) which aims to provide a world class bus network which reverses the long-term decline in travel by bus, by developing a more efficient bus system which is fully integrated with other public transport, affordable to all and plays a key role in the social, environmental and economic development of the region.
The SRBS and associated Action Plan is scheduled to be finalised in 2025. A number of early workstreams are anticipated to emerge from the SRBS Action Plan. This may include, but may not be limited to, development of voluntary partnerships or other transitional arrangements, providing a structured basis for private and public sector collaboration in ahead of any potential longer-term reform, and supporting passenger growth in the interim. Development works are also expected in furtherance of securing and delivering investment in bus services and infrastructure, including via Transport Scotland’s Bus Partnership Fund and other related sources. Close co-ordination across all work packages will be essential to successful delivery of the SBRS Action Plan.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent experience in management, engineering, economics or transport planning related subject/project management or demonstrable relevant qualification/HND/PG Dip.
You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational skills. Experience of working in project development/management and programme co-ordination is essential, ideally with experience in developing and managing transport projects and initiatives and/or complex, multi-disciplinary projects. .
You will be an excellent communicator and negotiator with the ability to manage the interfaces between multiple internal and external individuals and organisations to ensure the early actions identified from the SRBS Action Plan are delivered to an exceptionally high standard.
Full time hours will be 35 hours per week Monday to Friday. However, you may be required to undertake work outwith this norm to meet the responsibilities of the post.
Whilst you will be based at 131 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, SPT is currently operating a hybrid working scheme which allows 50% home working. Please note, this position falls into the low risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to for-cause testing procedures.

The Bus Development Co-ordinator will manage the relationships between internal SPT stakeholders, Local Authority partners, Bus Operators and other external stakeholders to ensure the successful coordination and delivery of the SRBS Action Plan.
The postholder will co-ordinate and liaise between parties to facilitate an integrated approach and to manage the flow of information.
You will also co-ordinate across multiple work packages to ensure relevant inputs and outputs are provided when required. This is anticipated to be a pivotal role in the delivery of the SRBS and associated Action Plan which will enable the development of key workstreams in a manner that will ensure wide-ranging support and buy-in across partner organisations.
