The Opportunity:
Olds College is looking to build a pool of interested and available Bus Drivers to work on a call-in basis to drive the College’s 18, 27 and 33 passenger buses on various trips within Alberta.
Successful candidates must have a valid Class 1, Class 2, or Class 4 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract. Preferred candidates will possess certification of training in Hours of Service, Daily Pre-Trip Inspection, Cargo Securement, and Weights and Dimensions. Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete these training courses and successfully complete a road test conducted by a licensed examiner. All drivers must meet with the College’s mechanic and safety officer for orientation, prior to being assigned driving duties. All drivers must meet the appropriate National Safety Code requirements. Drivers need to makes decisions with the Students in mind, focusing on providing the best possible student experience.

Rates of pay are as follows:

  • Hourly Driving Rate $18.23 per hour
  • Hourly Waiting Time Rate $15.18 per hour
  • Minimum Daily Rate (2 hours driving plus 1 hour waiting) $51.64
  • Daily Rate (to be used for all-day trips such as sports events) $182.25
  • Overtime rates are payable for hours of work in excess of 10 hours daily and 50 hours weekly.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses.
  • Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies.
