This is analytical work at the full working level in support of the organization’s Enterprise Resource Planning system. An incumbent of this class performs tasks related to sustaining existing business applications, deploying applications and developing or configuring applications. An incumbent also participates in the identification of business requirements and the design of solutions. An incumbent exercises considerable independent judgement and action in performing the systems maintenance tasks and refers more complex problems to a supervisor who evaluates work performance in terms of effective services rendered. Furthermore, monitors post implementation performance of applications; identifies significant issues and implements solutions or workarounds. Performs a number of activities supporting the identification of business requirements and the design of solutions such as assisting in conducting workshops, documenting, consolidating and reviewing needs, preparing alternatives and presentations to explain analyses and recommendations; prepares working papers of current workflows and low and/or high fidelity prototypes; documents proposed and current architecture environments. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff of user departments. Assists in the preparation of business cases related to long term strategies and the acquisition of technologies; assists in the preparation of specified parts of Requests for Proposal, solicits quotations and the evaluation of alternatives. Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and records related to the work; keeps abreast of recent developments in computer techniques and procedures. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of a university degree at the Bachelor’s level in computer science or a related discipline and sound related experience in systems analysis, OR, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of information technology components, process and developments including wide area networks, server and workstation operating systems, hardware platforms and configuration options. Working knowledge of the functions of departments served and their requirements as applied to information technology; divisional policies and practices; operational methods of departments served; and problem definition and analysis related to business processes and systems planning. Ability to analyze and evaluate various data and information, develop logical solutions for assigned problems and assess the implications of proposed changes; perform computer programming applicable to the work performed; participate in the work of a project team; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
