The Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and documenting business and functional requirements, and for documenting system and business knowledge. They will work proactively and collaboratively in cross-functional, scrum-like teams to deliver commercial and client-focused outcomes in our projects and systems.
This role can be either a Permanent Full-Time opportunity or a day-rate contract. Based in our Sydney office on a hybrid basis (2 days per week in the office).
- Gather and document business and functional requirements in collaboration with non-technical and technical users throughout Lonsec
- Support in ideation and problem-solving with Project Leads, business partners, and internal & external software engineers
- Groom requirements and translate needs with both business-users and software engineers
- Mapping the user/customer journey for solution design
- Participate actively and collaboratively in cross-functional, scrum-like project teams
- Create user training documentation and facilitation
- Support the testing function, and the Quality Assurance Manager during project cycles
Key Requirements:
- Experience in and knowledge of the finance industry very highly regarded
- 5+ years direct commercial experience as a Business Analyst in software development projects
- A keen entrepreneurial, and business-oriented mindset - someone that likes getting things done, not just getting things “right”
- Experience working in geographically distributed project teams
- Learning systems quickly in a document-light environment
- Experience using Atlassian products (Jira and Confluence)
- Experience in cross-functional, scrum-like project teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Keen interest in furthering knowledge of business and technology environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate business requirements, technical issues and solutions will be key to this role
- Highly developed communication and customer service skills - particularly with non-technical stakeholders
- Gather and understand requirements, facilitate stakeholder meetings.
- Understand technology concepts, translate business requirements to technical specifications.
- Analyze data, recommend effective solutions to complex problems.
- Adaptability and Learning Agility: Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends.
Essential qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant area of studies - Finance, Commerce, Technology, Data
- Change experience, including creation of material to support user adoption/handover
- Data Domain experience e.g., Data Mapping, Data modelling etc.
Highly Regarded Qualifications:
- A post graduate degree in a relevant area of studies
- CX/UX mapping experience a plus
