Te Tari Pūreke has been stood up as the firearms regulator in Aotearoa New Zealand and is the new place for people interested in the safe use and possession of firearms. Our vision is the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world. To achieve this, Te Tari Pūreke delivers four core functions: effectively implementing the firearms licensing system; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe use of legitimate firearms.
We are committed to fostering a culture of safety and responsible firearms use by working collaboratively with the firearms community, other stakeholders, and agencies, to promote safety, responsible gun ownership, and licence holder awareness of their responsibilities of their responsibilities.
About the role
We are seeking a Business Analyst who brings strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to liaise with people from all levels of the business.
As a business analyst you will act as a liaison between end-users, technical analysts, information technology analysts, project managers, consultants, and other governmental organisations in the analysis, design, configuration, testing, maintenance of systems and effective knowledge transfer of business implications to ensure optimal operational performance.
The role involves collaboration and consultation with stakeholders to identify, understand, define, and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access.
You will define and document customer requirements, business functions and processes accurately and effectively.
You will be confident facilitating business solution sessions and workshops involving participants from senior management to business users.
You will be a strong researcher and make recommendations on emerging products and technologies as part of analysis activities and perform detailed financial analysis including financial modelling, monetary and non-monetary benefits, and monitor business issues and impacts.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Partners with stakeholders to gather, analyse and document business requirements, ensuring alignment between user needs and system capabilities.
Maintains and updates technical documentation including requirements traceability matrices, change requests, and functional specifications using established templates and processes.
Contributes to the development and maintenance of procedural documentation and training materials.
Participates in impact analysis of policy changes and provides input on potential implications for business processes.
Assists in reviewing service agreements and contracts, providing support to senior team members in vendor management as needed.
Demonstrates commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, Māori and other communities and cultures.

EXPERIENCE IS TO INCLUDE:
Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills.

Relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience.
Certificate Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or equivalent is an advantage.

Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $102,808 to $108,894 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
