Description:

Summary Objective: The Business Analyst is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and evaluating business systems and metrics. The Business Analyst will document requirements, define scope and objectives, and formulate and recommend systems to parallel overall business strategies.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
  • Current Business Analyst Certification from an accredited University preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Outlook
  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • IBM Cognos BI proficiency strongly preferred
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel and complex Excel business models
  • Microsoft Access and/or SQL experience strongly preferred Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver the Ultimate Fitness Experience to every member, every time
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
  • Review a variety of areas including operations, finance, marketing, and human resources
  • Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational, and human resources research and analysis to support strategic and business planning within the various departments and programs of the client group
  • Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of various business strategies and practices

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and maintain an effective planning and analysis capability that will provide senior leadership with appropriate analytical tools to establish goals and measure performance of the Company’s portfolio of businesses
  • Routinely communicate business unit and company consolidated financial and operational performance trends, historical and forecasted, using appropriate metrics. Suggest trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications. Coordinate the capital spending review process for the company
  • Lead scenario modeling efforts for the development and growth of the portfolio
  • Develop and execute processes to allow for routine analytical reviews of company financial and operational performance, leveraging business unit analytical resources and tools
  • Lead the strategic aspects of the annual operating plan and budget process for the company
  • Prepare presentations in support of board and shareholder meetings, monthly/quarterly senior leadership meetings and various strategic committees of the company
  • Coordinate capital review meetings, pre-review vetting process and all aspects of formal capital appropriation request (CAR) documentation
  • Support the strategic business planning process
  • Participate in the financial modeling and due diligence efforts related to the company’s ongoing M&A activities.
  • Model potential changes to capital structure, acquisition and divestiture planning, shareholder returns
  • Financial Planning and Analytics
  • Suggest changes to key stakeholders using analytics to support your recommendations. Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
  • Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issue
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Validate resource requirements and develop cost estimate models
  • Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
  • Plan and coordinate the development of primary and secondary market research studies in support of strategic planning and specific marketing initiatives, as required and presents findings of studies to client committees
  • Complete, understand, and interpret high level Excel data reports
  • Manage databases and input information, data, and records
  • Attend company functions and networking events
  • Shadow multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks
