POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for investigating the student information system (IS), identifying options for improving business systems and bridging the needs of the Registrar’s office processes with the information system application. Plans, evaluates, implements and maintains all computerized records systems pertaining to the Registrar’s Office requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma of Technology in Computer Systems and over 6 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and the general public.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a heavy work load. Ability to adjust to changing priorities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Expert level proficiency with Student Information Systems (Banner preferred), Visio, Web Design, MS Word, Excel, Access and electronic mail.
- High level of initiative and self-motivation.
- Understanding of statistics and the ability to represent data graphically.
- Strong attention to detail and expertise in systems analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzes student information system design to incorporate program and course changes. Makes design change recommendations and oversees implementation.
- Analyzes various business processes used to input and update IS program and course data. Implements solutions that will streamline processes and improve and ensure data quality.
- Identifies IS training requirements, trains and monitors Registrar’s staff responsible for data entry. Develops and maintains up-to-date procedures manuals.
- Provides training to other College staff via workshops and onsite training programs and monitors data entry of all student related data.
- Participates on various committees and working groups related to course file data integrity issues and project implementation.
- Identifies process improvement opportunities, develops recommendations for implementing changes and tracks and monitors those changes.
- Acts as the IS report expert, develops job aids and documentation.
- Tests system change requests that impact the Registrar’s Office.
- Liaises with other departments regarding their reporting requirements related to student data and provides timely and accurate reports of same.
- Performs other related duties as required.
