Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medicare Strategic Analytics team’s mission is to improve customer value and affordability across Cigna Medicare. We accomplish this through data-informed analytics, strategic insights, and cross-departmental collaboration with our Cigna matrix partners. The team operates in a highly dynamic environment, partnering across business areas and on a wide variety of Medicare Advantage Total Cost of Care (TCC) reduction initiatives.
The Business Analytics Lead Analyst will report to the Business Analytics Senior Advisor as part of the Discovery Analytics team. Discovery Analytics, a subset of the Medicare Strategic Analytics department, plays a critical role in the mission to improve customer value and affordability across Cigna Medicare by providing early identification and sizing of potential savings opportunities.
The analyst will work with stakeholders across all TCC workstreams – pharmacy, clinical operations, claims processing, network management, and provider performance/quality – making recommendations to stakeholders to support the implementation of identified opportunities. The analyst will combine internally-developed data, tools and testing methods with business acumen, strategic thinking and data storytelling skills to make business recommendations designed to enhance the affordability landscape.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Health Information Management, Management Information Systems, Finance, Economics or related field preferred
- Proficient in SQL/Teradata query design
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with statistical computing languages like R or Python preferred
- Experience with collaborative work in GitHub preferred
- Experience with claims analytics, clinical data and/or financial data preferred
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in complex matrix organizations
- Strong verbal/written data storytelling used to communicate clearly with stakeholders of various backgrounds
- Organized and willing to learn/contribute to standard team processes
- Desire to learn, grow and become the internal partners of choice for affordability consulting
Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct analytical analyses that quantify potential savings from TCC reduction initiatives
- Write and present concise and insightful summaries of findings
- Recommend specific, data-informed actions to workstream leaders
- Contribute to the development of internal data, tools and study designs for ongoing discovery
- Create highly effective visuals to convey complex stories in a digestible format for an executive audience
- Work collaboratively and partner with departments across the organization to ensure deliverables are accomplished timely and to high standards
