Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a highly motivated Business Application Partner to join our Metals team in supporting the role out, development, and maintenance of our scrap software. The role is hands on in the field understanding what makes the business tick. The operational knowledge gained in the field will be leveraged to create best practices for the technology that will support the operations.
A successful candidate will be one that wants a hands on approach, and has the ability to communicate between multiple stakeholder groups. This person will be part of operations and will be the bridge to corporate IT support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Business and BITS Alignment

    • Gain an in-depth understanding of the business and business processes
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their near and long term goals and challenges; create and align on a business application roadmap
  • Attends business unit operational meetings and gathers/takes ownership of technology related actions
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solutions
  • Prioritize BITS related activities to ensure value creation is balanced with resource availability
  • Application Management


    • Works alongside the Business Application Support team to provide business continuity and application improvements

    • Monitor the performance and availability of applications and work to improve efficiency
    • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance and optimize applications
    • Vendor Management


      • Manage relationship with third party vendor and software providers

      • Evaluate and select appropriate software solutions to meet business needs
      • Change Management


        • Collaborate with business units to manage changes in business processes and applications

        • Develop and implement change management strategies to ensure smooth uptake of new technologies and processes
        • Project Management Support


          • Work in collaboration and in support of the PMO on projects that will impact the customer base.

          • Understand business requirements to ensure that solutions will work and are fit-for-purpose as they become operational.
          • Develop and execute on operational handoff of new applications into the Business Applications Team
          • Analytics


            • Ability to understand the value of the data available and identify new data sources

            • Work alongside the Business Intelligence team to create valuable insights for the business
            • Compliance & Security


              • Ensure that applications comply with SECURE policies and standards (ex. Patching / Identity)

              • Collaborate with security teams to protect business data and systems
              • Training & Support


                • Delivers on a “How can I help” philosophy for their customers

                • Provide training and support to end-users to maximize the effective use of technology
                • Work with the Business Application Support team to troubleshoot and resolve application related issues
